Mercedes was born in 1979 in Mendoza, Argentina. There, she studied classical dance and was a member of five years of the National University of Cuyo Ballett Companie. With a scholarship from the Foundation Julio Bocca and the Foundation Antorcha she went to Buenos Aires to study classical, contemporary dance as well as Tango Argentino. She spent five years as a dancer in the Companie Tangokinesis for Ana Maria Stekelman. Her commitment led them, among other festivals in the U.S.A, Canada, Mexico, Ecuador, Brazil, Colombia, Italy, France, Greece, and Germany. Mercedes Appugliese was from 2007 until the end of 2010 working for the Companie Toula Limnaios as a dancer. Since 2011 she has worked as a freelancer dancer and choreographer in numerous project including with Dieter Baumann and Jutta Hell (Dance Company Rubato) with Clébio Oliveira and Yuko Matsuyama in the Project Movement & Sound improvisation.
Since 2008 she is theaching in contemporary dance at the FU Berlin Freie Universität) and since 2011 worked at the TU Berlin (Technische Universität) .
In 2012 she founded in collaboration with Florian Bilbao “A + B Tanzbau”.
